Mataano took part in Style Week Jamaica 2011 at Fort Charles, Port Royal in Kingston Jamaica. The annual fashion event, was staged by Saint International Modeling Agency, and included four days of fashion shows and previews, cocktail receptions, fashion seminars, workshops and after-parties.  For our Spring/Summer 2011 Collection you will sense nostalgia for the late 1950’s to early 1960’s, but we didn’t let it overpower our modern sensibility. The highlight of this collection is the use of silk; from Italian shantung to printed organza you will find an array of silk blends. We wanted our customer to feel light and airy in her Spring clothes. The color palette presents an interesting marriage of unexpected light and dark tones to give the option for day and evening”

Inspired by the elegance of 1920’s fashion, this collection is gorgeously romantic yet
simple. Made to flatter the woman’s body, the fabrics used for the collection were
handpicked for comfort and texture. “Being fashionable doesn’t have to be a task; it
can be a relaxing and uplifting experience,” Says Idyl. Encompassing multicultural
fashion, the Mataano collection has American roots, but possesses international flair
with inspiration from both Africa and Europe, celebrating according to Idyl, “the woman
as a global citizen.”
The collection showcases the mutability of borders and the power of multi-cultural
influence. The Mataano signature emerges within each garment, uninhibited and
unrestricted by geographical boundaries. Because today’s woman is selective in the way
she expresses herself through fashion, “We designed simple, beautiful dresses that are
well-made and meant to flatter a range of shapes,” says Ayaan. “Our collection suggests
classic feminine modernity and we hope to inspire women to feel gorgeous in what she
chooses to wear.” Mataano’s goal is to provide women with simple beauty and stylish
